Past Sales

Thank you to all who participated in our March Madness Sale and April Fool’s weekend sale.
Both were very successful and we now have a bit more room for new fabrics!

New Patterns

We have sourced another Aussie designer which you may or may not have seen.
Anthea’s company is Angel Lea Designs and she designs softies, childrens clothing, and applique templates.
The patterns have been ordered and should be arriving soon.
To introduce these to you, we have a 10% discount on these pattern for the month of April, so keep checking our website for them.

Classes

Patchwork Orange Term 2 class schedule is the same as Term 1, and we have 2 workshops scheduled.
We also have 2 or 3 places at our Thursday night patchwork class open, so give me a ring and come along for some fun. $20 per session (5.30pm to 8.30pm).

August is in full swing now and i’m already behind with all our news (again) !

We would like to thank everyone who supported us at MAD Quilter’s Gathering in Penrith earlier in the month. We really appreciate your kind comments, and look forward to next year’s Gathering.
Put it in your ‘must do’ calendar for the first weekend in August 2012.

Our $100 gift voucher competition was a great success, and congratulations to the winner – Margaret R from Greystanes.

New Classes

Patchwork Orange has the new class schedule up and running, so take a look and come along for some sewing fun!

New Workshops

We have several new workshops planned for late this year and early next year.

Our first workshop will be

Applique with Wendy Williams

of Flying Fish Kits.

This will be in late September and we are negotiating a date as we speak.
If you have always wanted to try applique but were never sure you could do it, come along to this one day workshop and have a go!
Perfect for beginners and more experienced alike, we will be doing a simple quilt, cushion, or bag that you can complete in the workshop.
Keep tuned, as the date and cost of the workshop is to follow shortly.

Sarah Fielke Workshop

has been booked for Saturday 19th November, so keep that date free.

Further information on project and cost is to follow.

New Products

We now stock polyester toy filling for all those toys and softies in store. We have also received a large roll of Iron-on wadding, perfect for quilts or bags.
Shrink Sheet is another new product now online and in store, sold in 1/2 meter packs or by the metre.

New Patterns

We have ordered a few more patterns from Moonshine Designs by Monica Poole, and have also added 2 new Australian designers to our ever expanding list.
A new Block of the Month will be up and running from August by Monica named PEACOCKS GARDEN

Peacock’s Garden, several blocks are now up on display in the shop as we slowly complete this quilt.

We discovered this designer at the Trade show that we had attended in June, and are proud to be bringing you her fabulous patterns.

New Morris Meadows from Michelle Hill

We are now taking pre-orders for these two new Block of the Month Quilts, and they are selling quite rapidly.

June 2011 Newsletter

Winter is upon us!

The cold weather has hit us with a vengeance this year. Orange had already recieved snow this year about 3 weeks ago, and the Australian ski fields have opened almost a month early!
This is a great time to pull out your old projects to complete, or to start new ones that will keep you busy through the winter months.

DragonFly Daze

Many of you have been asking for the Dragonfly Daze range of fabrics as it was very popular. Unfortunately, Northcott had only printed a very limited amount of fabric and is not re-printing. Many patchwork shops that had ordered this range did not receive it at all, and I have been unable to source any more of this fabric anywhere!

Sarah Fielke Workshop

Sarah Fielke was at Patchwork Orange on Saturday 21st May, conducting a quilting workshop. Thank you Sarah and all the ladies that had attended to make it a success!

Sarah had also brought her quilts (much larger than expected) which we had hanging up in the store, and a few of you had popped in to get your books autographed and to meet Sarah ‘in person’.

If you missed out, Sarah will be back again at the end of November so keep a weekend free. Dates will be advised.

New Fabrics, Kits, and Books

We have a couple more fabric ranges that are new to our shelves.

Amy Butler’s Soul Blossoms have arrived with the rest of the shipment expected late June. We have also expanded our range of Amy Butler’s books and patterns, but have limited stock so be quick if you want a particular pattern.

Also newly arrived is the Jungle Babies fabrics which are very limited, so as usual be quick!

The first book is Sarah Fielke’s new book Quilting – From Little Things which is selling fast. Our second feature book is Melly & Me’s Sewn Toy Tales We were able to get only 3 copies of this book, and they are already sold out from the suppliers!

Our third feature is not actually one book but a couple from Amy Butler They usually sell out very quickly and I only have 1 copy of each of ‘In Stitches’, ‘Style Stitches’, and ‘Little Stiches For Little Ones’.

And if you are a fan of William Morris, we now have all of Michele Hill’s Books including ‘More William Morris Applique’. This book sells before I can even unpack them, so only have 1 copy left! We also stock Michele Hill’s ‘Adelaide’ fabrics which would be perfect for these quilts from her books, and have pre-ordered her next new range of complementary fabrics arriving in the next few months.

Choc Chip Cookie Recipe

This is one recipe that has been a favorite with our family for years!

Choc Chip Cookies

125g butter
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 3/4 cup SR flour
155 g (1/2 cup) choc chips

step 1
Set oven temperature to moderate (180C). Lightly grease baking trays with melted butter. Beat butter until soft, add the caster & brown sugar and continue beating the mixture until it is light and fluffy.

step 2
Gradually add the egg and vanilla essence, beating until well combined.

step 3
Sift the flour and fold into the mixture. Add the chocolat chips and stir until well combined.

Step 4
Pinch off teaspoonfuls of the mixture and roll into small balls. Place on prepared baking trays, leaving room between each one for spreading.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until firm and light golden in colour.
Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
Store in an airtight container.
